Since its introduction in 1890 the Peterson System, with its graduated bore designed to collect tar and moisture before it reaches the bowl, has been a firm favourite with pipe smokers everywhere.

The P. Lip that followed in 1898 allows the smoke to hit the roof of the mouth and not the tongue. This eliminates tongue bite and allows the smoker to appreciate the tobacco.
