Revor Plug Pipe Tobacco - 10g Sample
Revor Plug is a Kentucky and Virginia briquette of pure tobacco wonderment. The block is mostly a dark shade of brown, almost black, with a grain running longitudinally where lighter browns and golden flecks appear, like the strata of sedimentary rock. It feels waxy and is easily worked into a crumble, though you may prefer to cut and rub this tobacco for a more precise texture. By this stage, you've taken in the aromas of the unlit leaf which are sweet, unique, possibly floral or fruity but there's more a smell of robust smoky tobacco. Once in the pipe, lighting and keeping it lit for the first quarter is a hurdle worth jumping, because the flavours are quite simply awesome! After this tobacco is alight and burning well, it burns cool, thoroughly and long, giving you plenty of creamy textured smoke to enjoy.
The Kentucky used in the blend is fire cured, as with most Kentucky, but this tastes like it's been smoked longer than usual or with different woods. The flavour profile is similar to that of a Latakia but with familiar Kentucky 'mild florals' and woodiness. As with most Kentucky rich tobaccos, nicotine levels are high, so beware. The Virginias add a bit of sweet breadiness and a little grass, which suggest the plug has fermented as it matured while being pressed. A delightful tobacco that has survived to this day simply because it's a top notch smoke.
